Los Gatos COVID-19 Update

Following the government’s guidelines, we have introduced an online booking system to reserve tables at all times. This includes Friday and Saturday nights, as we will no longer be operating a waiting list. It is advisable to reserve a table for Lunch or Dinner in order to avoid disappointment.

As part of our commitment to your safety, you will find the layout of Los Gatos has changed. We have less tables and have installed dividers between each table. Screens have been installed around the bar and hand sanitizer points at the front entrance, corridor toilets and exits. All our front of house staff will be wearing masks and maintaining a safe distance as much as possible when serving you.

We respectfully request that customers wear face masks until they are seated at their tables, and when they visit the washroom facilities and exit the premises.

We are immensely flattered by the number of people keen to return and we can’t wait to see you.

Fresh to our door…

Our tapas are prepared here on the premises by our team of talented chefs. We are fussy about the ingredients we use and are constantly on the lookout for better ones. We have very little storage space, and for this reason, as well as from choice, we operate a “just in time” supply policy, which means all of our supplies are delivered little and often, so they are as fresh as we can get them.

When choosing new products and suppliers, we ask ourselves these questions:

  1. Does it taste good?
  2. Does it come from a proper, sustainable and certified source?
  3. Can the cleanliness, freshness, sustainability, consistency and regularity of the supply be guaranteed?
  4. Can we prepare it and sell it at a price our customers want to pay?

We prefer either local (Wiltshire/Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire) or authentic Spanish imported produce. We use organic produce if it tastes better and can be readily sourced.

Spanish speciality produce:

We wouldn’t be a Spanish tapas bar without our jamones, embutitdos and quesos variados. Most of our specialist cured sausages and hams, cheeses, anchovies, olives, olive oil and other conserved produce is supplied by Mevalco – Fine Foods from Spain, based in Bristol. Owner David Menendez is a former veterinary inspector who retains his links with small independent farms and highly values animal welfare and quality production by traditional methods. We also buy selected produce from Brindisa in London and Delicioso in Abingdon.

Positions Available

Second Chef

We are looking for a Second Chef who has experience of cooking with fresh food in a busy production kitchen. Experience with Spanish food is preferable but not essential as full training will be given during your induction period. However, you must be able to demonstrate basic cooking principles. The candidate must hold a Basic Hygiene Certificate and ideally have been in a senior position for more than two years. They must be able to lead by example and have a hands on approach to ensure that standards of cooking and hygiene are maintained. They will be working closely with the Head Chef and deputising in his absence. You must be able to work evenings and weekends. You will be working mainly straight shifts with the exception of 1-2 split shifts per week and two days off per week. The rate of pay will be dependent on experience.

Line Chefs

We are also looking for various Chefs with a passion for producing quality food in a busy restaurant. Some experience of cooking with fresh produce and basic cooking skills is essential. Rate of Pay will be commensurate depending on experience. Chefs will need to have held a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate. Full training will be given during your induction. Wages will be dependant on experience.

Part Time Kitchen Assistant Saturday Daytime

This position would suit someone who is looking for part-time work, The shift commences at 9am to 3pm. You will be mainly washing up and helping the chefs prepare menu items. Full training will be given to carry out the tasks required. Hourly rate will be dependent on experience and age in line with statutory pay rates.

Front of House Staff

We have both Full Time and Part Time positions available. You will have had some experience of working in the hospitality industry ideally in a fast paced busy restaurant. You will have a basic understanding of how to serve drinks and food. Be attentive to customers needs and have a friendly disposition. For full time staff, you will need to be available to work mainly evenings and weekends. For Part-Time positions please specify in your application when you are available to work. Hourly rate will be dependent on experience and age in line with statutory pay rates.

Los Gatos opened its doors in April 2006 on Wood Street Swindon. Such was the success of this bustling little restaurant and growing demand from our regular customers, we then moved to bigger premises in Devizes Road Swindon in October 2014, where Los Gatos has gone from strength to strength.

It remains Swindon’s only Spanish style tapas restaurant, where you will find a warm welcome and an array of Spanish style tapas dishes on our main menu, plus our daily specials. All accompanied by a fine selection of Spanish Wines & Beers to choose from.
